Jet-blast deflectors and blast fences are structures that protect airports operational areas from jet engine’s high speed exhaust air.
These structures are usually placed between aircraft aprons, taxi lanes and runways, and other operational areas of airports to minimize the space allowance needed for a safe operation.

These deflectors form an angled wall, typically with a slight curvature, engineered to deflect jet blast vertically (70º-90º). They are designed to withstand significant loads and engine run-ups.
Constructed from a metallic mesh, these deflectors utilize the mesh itself to deflect the jet blast at an angle. The partial transparency of the mesh structure allows for visibility from one side to the other, enhancing safety and security. Mesh structures can be inclined, redirecting the jet blast vertically, or upright, redirecting the jet blast at a 70º angle at “no wind” condition.
These deflectors utilize transparent PMMA lamellas, providing 100% visibility while maintaining structural integrity and functionality. Sharing the same structural design as the mesh barriers, the acrylic panels are interchangeable with the mesh panels, allowing for quick and easy replacement to suit evolving needs.
These solutions can be permanent or portable depending on the needs and phases of each airport project. The structures are designed according to their intended purpose and project requirements, following a thorough analysis of the specific conditions of the installation site.
